In Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding, an electric arc is established between the workpiece and a consumable bare wire electrode, high welding speeds are possible with minimal distortion of the workpiece and a high overall weld quality. The Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) process involves a non-consumable Tungsten electrode held in a torch, with the current passed between the electrode and work piece connected to an earth return cable.
